Dr. Franklin has over 36 years of experience in managing collegiate business operations at the University of Texas-Houston and Ohio University. After serving as the Assistant Dean for the College of Health and Human Services, Dr. Franklin facilitated the relocation of campus recreation to the university’s Division of Student Affairs where he served as the Assistant Dean of Students for Planning, Assessment and Research before his recent retirement. He is now a consultant and partner for Academic Excellence International, LLC as well as a member of the CORE Collaborative.
A regular presenter at professional conferences, Dr. Franklin has spoken on strategic planning, standards and assessment, developing student learning outcomes for student employees, and entrepreneurialism. He is co-author of Philosophical and Theoretical Foundations of Campus Recreation: Crossroads of Theory and Campus Recreation Career and Professional Standards in Campus Recreation: Essentials for the Professional (2007) as well as The Evolution of Campus Recreational Sports and Relationships in Recreational Sports: Living and Working Within the Institution, Community, and Profession (2013). Dr. Franklin serves on the Board of Directors of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) and as a Commissioner for the Registry of Collegiate Recreational Sports Professionals.
